I downloaded both the exe and the jar release of the beta version and when I run the installer, on the screen where it asks for the Eclipse version and allows you to browse, it never shows my eclipse install.

I've tried 3.1.2 and 3.2RC6 and RC7 to no avail.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

here is the list of locations that the installer will look for eclipse installs.
  1. the root drives 1 level deep
  2. parent directories of previous install locations 1 level deep
  3. directories specified in the registry for know products such as IBM Rational Application Developer, IBM Websphere Application Developer, etc
  4. Home folders for Linux OS.

Do you have any other locations you would like us to look for the Eclipse installs?

Well, if I use the "Choose Eclipse" button it should find my eclipse when I select the folder that contains the .eclipseproduct file (eclipse's root) right?

If I select that folder and click "Ok", it still doesn't register that it sees my eclipse install so I can select it.

Generally, I'm running multiple eclipse installs at any given time. I have a folder: D:\EclipseHome that has sub folders for each install, so for instance, with the 3.2 RC7 the structure is thus:

Code: Select all
D:\
     ---EclipseHome
        |
         ---3.2RC7
             |
              ---eclipse
             |
              ---workspace

That way each release is separate from the others but they are all under Eclipse Home.

Getting to the brass tax, it worked marvelous with the 1.0.0 release. I don't expect it to look in any other location that you aren't already, I would like it to work when I use the "Choose Eclipse" option.

Thanks for your time in looking at this issue. I love the product.[/code]

So, if I put my eclipse in D:\ by itself (D:\eclipse) the installer finds it on it's own.

the answer is yes if the eclipse was off the root of d: it would find it.

I have reproduced your issue with the Choose Eclipse button and have assigned it to a developer to take a look at to see why it is not working properly.

I will advise when I get any information from the development team
