HelpComposer and i18n documentation

Postby egentz » Sun Feb 01, 2009 1:26 am

I'm just thinking about How to manage my help - and user-documentation content best way.
HelpComposer looks great, but I need to manage my help with i18n,
at minimum I need two languages (de and en)

I know how to i18n inside eclipse, but whats the recommended way to create and compose the help content ?

HelpComposer doesnt suppport i18n directly if I understand it right,
so have I to duplicate all content manually in two different projects ?

then it can happen easy to run out-of-sync

what are your experiences or tips how to manage this ?

thanks for tips

Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for you. When you are extracting strings (labels, button text, short messages, etc) from code, the result is very structured and thus easier to compare and keep multiple translations in sync. Translating documentation, which normally has much less structure, is much more difficult. Currently, we do not have any mechanism in HelpComposer to compare and keep multiple translations in sync.
