On Mac: enterText fails to enter the text in the wizard

Postby sagar.shg » Mon Nov 22, 2010 4:45 am

I'm facing this issue with the latest build and its only on Mac. Record a script for importing a project and in the Import Existing projects screen try to enter the text in the Select Folder text box:

ui.enterText("/Applications/");

The recorded script shows correct results, however while playing back it stops after entering the first character (i.e. '/').

Bug?

Looks like this might be a bug. Unfortunately we longer have active support for the Mac platform. Do you need to use the Mac for running your tests, or could you get by using Windows?

Did I hear you right "We no longer have active support for Mac"? This is very important to us, can you guys fix it? It is a requirement to run the tests on both Win and Mac. It worked fine with earlier versions of WindowTester (4.0), can you explain why the support for Mac has been dropped?

It would be more accurate to say that the product was never officially or fully supported on the Mac ever (even at Instantiations). We had it partially working for some limited sets of cases but we continually ran into problems and incompatibilities in SWT/RCP under OSX. This is compounded by major changes that Apple has made in OSX that make the situation even worse (such as significant differences between Carbon and Cocoa). Even today, it does work in some cases and fails in many more. Since demand for running the tool under OSX is minimal (just a few users) and the effort to truly support it under the latest OSX version is substantial, Google feels that its efforts are best spent elsewhere.

If you are happy with the way it worked at some point in the past under OSX, we would suggest reverting back to the earlier version (and using the same version of OSX that you were using). If you have a current support contract, please contact us via the customer-only e-mail address that was sent to you, and we can help you set that up (and provide access to the older downloads, if you need them).
