eclipse-compatible javadoc for window tester

Postby Andrei.Pozolotin » Thu Sep 30, 2010 4:47 pm

Hello:

can you please post a link to the normal/standard, "eclipse-compatible javadoc for window tester"
wich can be attached to swingRuntime.jar, so I can see javadoc inside eclipse
w/o the need to go on the web all the time?

eclipse can not use this:
http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/tools ... mmary.html

thank you

Sorry, we do have support for that. Will put it on our feature requests list.

keertip:

thanks for getting back!

ideally we need 2 things

1) normal javadoc (not embedded), like most of sun api web sites;

2) automatic inclusion of javadoc (or just link) in the ecliplse plugin itself;
so there is no need to set it up manually;

thank you

+1

Any progress on this feature request? We're all accustomed to hovering over a method and getting javadocs when using Eclipse. Having to move back and forth between the IDE and the API reference web pages adds a significant amount of friction to my workflow. This decreases developer productivity, and I know you are passionate about increasing developer productivity. :-)

I'm not sure if this is what the OP was looking for, but this workaround solves my problems:

In Eclipse (Helios):

1. In the Package Explorer view, open the WindowTester Runtime library node.
2. Open the Properties dialog for commonRuntime.jar (select it, then Alt+Enter).
3. Open the Javadoc Location properties page.
4. Select Javadoc in archive and also External file.
5. For Archive path, browse to (precise name depends on Windows Tester version):
<eclipse install dir>\plugins\com.windowtester.eclipse.help_6.0.0.r36x201009141344\doc.zip.
6. For Path within archive, browse to html/reference/javadoc.
7. Press the Validate... button to make sure everything is OK.
8. Press OK.

Now the javadoc is integrated into Eclipse.

Update: You should repeat these steps for swingRuntime.jar, too.
