Testing Eclipse Preference Validation Errors

Postby jistrawn » Wed May 05, 2010 12:33 pm

Hello,

I am having a bit of trouble accessing a control and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

I am validating an Eclipse preference value. When an invalid value is entered an error message is displayed in the Preference view (using the FieldEditor.setErrorMessage() method). My question is how do I access this control to check the error message text. I have attached an image.

Thanks,
Jim Strawn

Maybe an obvious question but have you tried to generate an assertion using the inspector? If not, Give that a whirl. It *should* help you identify the widget corresponding to the message. If not, we can work through another approach. Inspector docs are here:

Let us know how it goes.
