Mac Support?

Is Mac OSX still supported? If yes, how can it be installed? Installation from the update site at http://download.instantiations.com/Wind ... update/3.5 fails:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: WindowTester Core Runtime 4.0.1.200911090724 (com.windowtester.runtime.feature.group 4.0.1.200911090724)
Missing requirement for filter (&(osgi.os=macosx)): WindowTester Core Runtime 4.0.1.200911090724 (com.windowtester.runtime.feature.group 4.0.1.200911090724) requires 'com.windowtester.swt.macosx [4.0.1.200911090724]' but it could not be found

As stated in the System requirements, WindowTester supports Eclipse 3.5 Carbon and 32bit Java under OSX.

That said, if you want to try Cocoa, you'll need a 32bit Java and install WindowTester using the zip file.

OSX Support at this time:

1) Eclipse 3.5 Carbon 32bit with 32bit Java - This configuration is what we officially support at the moment.
You can point Eclipse to use a 32bit Java using the -d32 in the VM arguments (see screen shot). You should also be able to change the
default VM in your Java Preferences app under the Utilities folder of Applications.

or

2) Eclipse 3.5 Cocoa 32bit with 32bit Java - This is not officially supported. If you want to try, we'll be glad to get your feedback.
The update site for 3.5 Cocoa has problems and we'll look into it. In the meantime, you'll have to use the zip file and install into the dropins folder.

Hope that helps.

The problem is that there is (to my knowledge) no 32-bit version of Java 6 on OSX (and Java 5 is EOL)...

Hmmm.... are you sure? You said your OSX version is 10.4.8 but you probably meant 10.5.8. I'm looking at the Java Preferences and I see 32bit Java. In OSX 10.6, I see both 32bit and 64bit Java.

You're right -- it's 10.5.8. The problem is that while there is both 32-bit and 64-bit Java on OSX, Java 6 on this platform appears to be 64-bit only.

One of our Engineers is using Carbon and 64bit Java but had to add the -d32 compatibility flag when running tests. You can do this in the JRE definition (in the Installed JREs preference). Give that a try and see if it works for you.
