Migration from Visual Age problem

Postby kuaw26 » Tue Mar 28, 2006 3:07 am

We are curently trying to migrate from Visual Age for Java (old IBM dev tool) to Eclipse. In general all works fine except visual forms design.

Our app is pure Java2 SE Swing app.

We could build and run our app under Eclipse but neither VE and Window Builder could open our Forms correctly. BUT under Visual Age all works FINE.

So Window Builder failed with message "Operation Failed"
com.swtdesigner.properties.PropertyEsception: .... and long long text

if I try to pres button "Yes" (in order to contact support by e-mail) it faled again with message "Access denied..."

So, what you could recommend us? If your designer would work fine we would defenetely buy it.

And one more. in comparison witn your Window Builder VE doesn't faliled it draw components incorrectly (it put them under each other as if it do not recognize positioning and layouting code)

And last thing. Visual Age for Java generate ONE internal class for all listeners may be this is a problem?

Sounds like a possible classpath issue. Are you using an custom VAJ components? Are they loaded into your Eclipse project so that the VE and WindowBuilder can see them?

I would recommend that you send us a test case. Unless we can reproduce the problem, there is very little we can do to help.

No. We have tested WindowBuilder with hundreds of windows built with VA Java and all of them worked fine.
