Steps to add custom controls to Swing Designer

Postby Baileys » Wed Oct 19, 2005 5:44 am

Hello,

what should I do to include custom controls (such as JDNC controls) within Swing Designer?

What I do is go to the preferences tab/designer/swing/custom controls; I then click on the "select" button and I select the control I need in the list.
Is that all I need to do, or is there another step?

Thank you.

1) Add the jar for the controls to your project's .classpath file
2) Use the Choose Bean command to select one of the widgets or add the widget to the Custom Controls palette.

Here's a screen shot showing some of the JDNC widgets in Designer...

That is all you need to do in order to add those widgets to the Custom Controls palette. You can then select those widgets in the palette and add them to your window.

Hello,

I tried with version 0.6 of JDNC, and yes, it works fine.
Versions 0.7 and 1.0 (this one is not yet released) do not work.
Could you please tell me why?

Thank you

Hello,

problem solved by passing the jdk 1.5 (rather than 1.4) in the command line of the shortcut used for starting Eclipse 3.1.

Thanks
