Cannot install Swing designer

I have been a very happy user of WBPro and have seen it improve hugely over the years and now I need to help another user to install eclipse & WBPro.. I am trying to update from eclipse 3.4, WindowBuilder ProVersion: 6.7.0, Build id: 2008.07.04. I have installed e3.6.1 and have followed the WBPro installation instructions. At the confirmation stage I get the message below in the (tiny) message window. Please can someone help. :
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.

That indicates a local problem with your Eclipse installation.

Are you installing into a new, clean Eclipse 3.6.1 installation?

Yes, I did both installations within minutes of each other. However, when starting eclipse I did direct it to my old application, with whose problems you have helped in the past. Do the project files perhaps force it to look at old installations of WBPro?

I would recommend installing into a new, clean copy of the Eclipse SDK with a new workspace.

Make sure that the PDE is full installed in whatever Eclipse environment you are using.

I have tried a clean install of eclipseand then go to Windows Preferences and add http://dl.google.com/eclipse/inst/d2wbpro/latest/3.6 and I get the the window which you can see at

However, When I look at my testFrame.java (new workspace and project created this afternoon) and look at the Open with... option I do not get Designer Editor. I am using the eclipse from eclipse-java-helios-SR1-win32.zip.

I would recommend following the actual product installation instructions for Eclipse 3.6...

Adding the update site to the preferences doesn't actually install the product.

I'm having the same problem as the topic starter. I have tried removing Eclipse several times but no luck. This is the message that I get:

If I download Eclipse from the eclipse.org site it should be complete right? Following the installation instruction (with the update site and everything) hasn't helped.

never mind, problem solved thanks to a colleague. It had to do with editing rights on the directory where Eclipse was installed.The windows feature called user account control is the root of the problem. It requires administrator from Eclipse but that is not something Eclipse can handle so the additional rights have to be added manually.

Yes. That sounded like a local issue since we know there isn't any problem with the update site itself.
