Can't open existing applet

Postby Guest » Thu Jun 17, 2004 1:09 pm

Hi. I'm using Eclipse:
Version: 3.0.0
Build id: 200405211200
and using SWT Designer from download file: Designer_v2.0.0_for_Eclipse3.0M9.zip.

When I try to open an existing applet (Open With->Designer Editor), it says: "Unknown Window Type" in the main title bar of Design tab.

Any ideas?

I also tried to open another applet, and when I click Design tab, my Windows taskbar fills with 23 Java Coffee Cup icons; if I clcik on one of them, I get nothiing. If I right-click and then click maximize, I see the applet, but it is not formatted correctly. Oddly, I do not get the Unknown Window Type message on this one, just the 23 icons. the view in the design window is completely wrong, though, too.

Was this an applet created with Designer? If not, how was it created? Can you send the source for the applet to support@swt-designer.com?

In general, Designer should be able to open any class that it creates. It can also open ~80% of classes created by other tools or by hand (most tools can't do that at all). It can't do all of them (although the more examples we get, the better the tool will get).

You might also try Eclipse 3.0 RC2 and the latest v2.0.1 build of Designer.

Where's the error log?

Postby ForceRs » Thu Jun 17, 2004 1:22 pm

I tried to place a button ona new form to test Designer and I got an internal error. Says to send you the error log. Where will I find it in Windows 2000?

I tried to delete a JPanel, too, and it did nothing. Perhaps it deleted it, but still showed it on the screenand this is why attempting to drop a JButton on it failed?

EDIT:

I do have console opena nd there is the message: editDepth != commitDepth

Not sure if it's yours or not.

Hand-coded applet that got Unknown Window Type.

The one with 23 icons was created by JBuilder 9.0 Personal edition. Should I send you both?

Was this a Designer created JFrame or JPanel?

The Eclipse ".log" file is in your workspace/.metadata directory.
