cohabitation problem?

Postby Baileys » Tue Apr 08, 2008 6:01 am

Hello,

I just installed Swing Designer (eval) in my MyEclipse installation. I also have enabled the MyEclipse's Matisse plugin.
I'm just wondering : Swing Designer works great as long as Matisse is not loaded (for viewing a form). But if, inadvertently, Matisse loads, and then I decide to view the file with Swing Designer, it hangs.
Do you think this could be related?

Thanks.

Sure. Matisse isn't a native Eclipse application and isn't really designed to run in Eclipse, so who knows what it might be doing to the environment.

You should avoid Matisse in any case (too dangerous, IMO).

Hello,

well, I tend to think the same way. I think I will not go further with Matisse.

As you might have noticed (or maybe not ;)) I am investigating several tools for creating our Swing GUI.
We will now have to choose between Netbeans and your Swing Designer.
The choice is not easy. Netbeans implements new features (like JSR 295 and 296) that could help us a lot.
Swing Designer is well integrated into Eclipse, which is our usual development tool, and that would avoid us of dealing with 2 different IDEs.
I know you plan to release a version of Swing Designer with the same features (mid year you said), and in the last build I just downloaded, there already is a JSR296 wizard - that is a good sign ;) Can you tell me more about the next release? Do you have a precise date? What other extra features will there be?

Thank you again.

We are looking to release JSR 295 & 296 support in 3Q2008.
