Chapter 6.3 Object Actions

Irene Levina asked this same question on october 5, 2004. Why don't the popup menus and context menu changes work for chapter 6.3? The answer she got back was rather cryptic and relatively useless. I expect a bonafide solution that I can implement. I am learning this stuff, I am not a Java guru. I bought this book with the intent of being able to implement all the aspects presented here. I am impressed by the web support offered by this book; I have used it often. Don't let me down, give me a workable answer in plain English.

Did you review the Chapter 6 errata?

Hopefully, that will help. If not, can you send us what you have created so far (it would be hard to diagnose why your code is failing without actually seeing it).

Chapter 6.3 Object Actions

Postby brian.s.penn@boeing.com » Fri Apr 08, 2005 10:44 am

Dan Rubel (CTO, Instantiations, Inc.) provided the following solution for me.

He did the following:

1) imported your project into a new workspace
2) launched a runtime workbench
3) created a new empty java project (in the runtime workbench)
4) right clicked on the new java project (see attached screenshot).

I never got the impression that I was supposed to create a new project in the runtime workbench from the book. Although, after rereading the section, it does say, "Any context menu activated on the workbench resource will contain the favorites menu.." Once I did this the example worked like a charm! Thank you very much.
