Playing with Windows NT services via OSScHandle

Postby PhotonDemon » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:31 am

Hi All,

I am playing with the OSScHandle methods for stopping, deleting, creating and such for Windows NT services. For now I am testing with doits in a development image. So far so good. But when I delete a service or create a service things don't really complete until I exit the development image. I send closeServiceHandle and closeHandle to the handles when I'm done but that doesn't seem to really say I'm done.

For example, if I delete a service, it goes into a "disabled" state until I exit the development image. Then it goes away. This leads me to believe that something is hanging on to something until I exit the development image. Does anyone have any idea how I can free this up?

Hi,

I think I must have missed sending closeServiceHandle somewhere as the problem seems to be gone.
