VAST 8.0.2 on Linux: right click freeze

Postby michael.haupt » Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:17 pm

Hi,

having installed VAST 8.0.2 manager and client on an Ubuntu Linux machine (should be 10.04), I am observing the following odd behaviour: right clicking in the source code pane of the applications browser will reproducibly either give me a context menu, or freeze the mouse pointer in the "pointing rightwards" state, disabling any interaction with the entire desktop (no reactions to keyboard input either).

I'm glad I had remote shell access to kill the VAST client.

My mistake? Known Motif flaw? Out-of-date libraries?

(I did do a search in the forums but found no answer.)

Thanks for any advice,

Michael

P.S.: This is my first post, so apologies for breaking any rules I don't know yet. :-)

Hello,

The documentation specifies Ubuntu 9.x. We already have a case open for 10.0.4, as the result of testing.

Hi,

OK, so it's a case of "my bad": I oughta thoroughly read the specs and stick to them, using Ubuntu 9 for the time being. Thanks; will do. :-)

Best,

Michael
