emadmin password problem

Postby daswartz » Tue Oct 28, 2008 5:26 am

In moving from a windows based emsrv repository to UNIX, we've run into an annoyance. emserv runs fine, but we are unable to control the server with emadmin.

emadmin list and stat work fine. However, when we attempt to shutdown the server, or use emadmin to copy a repository it asks for "the password of the user who started EMSRV". We enter the correct password, but it always rejects with a "Password is invalid." message.

What are we doing wrong?

thank you

Hi Doug,

Exactly which version of UNIX are you using?

Thanks,

Thank you for the reply.

We've experienced this on both Solaris 9, and on a Linux variant (which one I don't have handy).

However, I just found the information in one of the manuals about setting up PAM usage on UNIX. I suspect that information will take care of the problem.

Be sure to check your OS manuals for correct PAM setup. The example in our installation guide may not be correct for current versions of Linux and Solaris.
