One Packaged Image fpr multiple Platforms?

Postby tstalzer » Thu Mar 13, 2008 9:18 am

Hi @All

I have somewhere in the back of my head that it is possible to create a packaged image which is runnable (with different DLL/Modules, exe, etc. of course) on different platforms. In our case, we need Windows and Solaris. However I can't find any information on "How-To-Do-It" in the documentation.

Could you please point me in the right direction?

Best regards

Thomas -

No, this is not possible. Just about every major subsystem in VA Smalltalk (CG, CW, CFS, etc) has platform-dependent subapps that provide different Smalltalk code for different platforms.

Perhaps you are thinking about the capability of using the XD packager to package 2 runtime images (one for Windows and one for Solaris) from a single Windows development environment?

Hi John

thanks for your reply.

I know about the XD capabilities and they are quite impressive. And that is the way we are planning to do it right now.
