Designer sometimes does not show preview of objects

Sometimes I see a preview of objects such as Tabs and buttons and other time I just see the placeholders. If I save, exit and come back in them the previews are painted correctly.

Yes. We have experienced some timing problem like this with GWT. This usually happens when we are trying to make too many changes to the GWT components in rapid succession (they can't keep up and end up not painting at all). We are looking for ways to detect this and then trigger a refresh. Designer simply shows images of the live GWT widgets. When they blank out in Designer, it means that the live widgets have not rendered themselves properly for some reason.

Note that you can refresh the view by Ctrl-clicking the the "Test/Preview" button (light switch on toolbar). Most of the time, that will fix the problem.
