Cannot install GWT Designer on 3.4 Eclipse

I tried using Pulse to install GWT Designer from the Pulse catalog on a 3.4 based profile and I get a resolution error. Working for Pulse I can look a little deeper at the issue and it seems a recent release has a few changes in the features.

First for http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.4 it looks like the feature IDs changed to include the plugin ID. This makes it difficult for us as we will need to change out software listing every time you release code. Also previous releases did not do this.

The bigger issue I cannot fix in our catalog is it seems that http://dl.google.com/eclipse/inst/d2gwt/latest/3.4 is missing a feature from it: org.eclipse.wb.core.xml.feature. Your sites for 3.5 and 3.6 do include this so I hope it can be added to your 3.4 site.

BTW this will not just affect users of Pulse as regular eclipse users will not be able to find that required plugin either.

I don't know what you mean by this. Also, the above update site is for GPE, not GWT Designer.

As I don't understand your earlier statement, I can't comment on what pervious releases did. AFAIK, the build structure for GPE is the same in 2.2 as it was for 2.1.1.

Nothing is "missing" as that is an Eclipse 3.5 and above only feature. It does not apply to Eclipse 3.4 and is therefore not included. It has never applied to Eclipse 3.4 in the past either.

Your sites for 3.5 and 3.6 do include this so I hope it can be added to your 3.4 site.

That won't happen. That feature is not supported in Eclipse 3.4 and we don't build it for 3.4.

Not so. It loads just fine in regular Eclipse.

The only major thing that has changed in this release of GWT Designer is that the namespace and version numbers of the features and plugins have changed to reflect Eclipse.org requirements concerning the donation of WindowBuilder to Eclipse.org.

Sorry it must have been a long day What I was trying to say was that site, which we use for another 3.4 software (GWT Tooling in the Pulse catalog) made a change that put version numbers in the plugin ID. i.e. com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature to com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature.1.4.2 and com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature to com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature.2.2.0

My next statement was just related to frustration in having had to deal with this for a while with other google plugins. If http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.4 is not under your control please let me know if there is a separate place I need to go to report this issue.

As for GWT Designer, I apologize for this. I should have taken a closer look and assumed the issue was on our side. After removing the requirement from our definition that software works fine now.

A little more information about the issue with the software we call GWT Tooling in the Pulse catalog.

We use the update site:
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.4

Main required feature:
com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.e34.feature

We also defined 2 optional features:
com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature.1.4.2
com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle.e34.feature.2.2.0

When I try to use this with a 3.4 eclipse I get the following error

I have asked the GPE build team to look into the error you are seeing as that prereq should definitely not be there.
