GXT Feature Request: Tab order

Postby gaspo » Sun Oct 11, 2009 7:14 pm

GXT offers TabIndex on most form fields which can be used to set the tabbing order.
Some widgets, however, do not have TabIndex property. To change the tabbing order for such widgets it is necessary to manually change the insertion point into the parent container.

I tried to drag and drop widgets on the explorer pane but it didn't work.

It would be nice to be able right click on a container and select Tab Order... or Widget Creation Order... which would bring up a dialog box with the list of container's children. We could then simply use drag and drop on the list to change the order of adding them into the parent container.

The latest GWT Designer 7.2 build now supports drag/drop for GXT AbsoluteLayout in the component tree.

You can now rearrange the widgets to control their creation order.

Thanks for the quick update.
I tried the latest version and it works fine on Windows. On Linux (Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit) I'm having trouble to do the same.

What's wrong under Linux?

When drag the widget in the component pane I can't drop it to a new position in the list. After releasing the component its icon just floats back to its original place.
In Windows when I drag I can see the new insert position, on Linux it doesn't do it.

This was a Linux-specific problem. Please give it a try using the latest build.
