Visual Editor not present

Postby MogensO » Mon Aug 31, 2009 6:54 am

Hi,

I just installed GWT designer.
I'm able to create projects, files under the WindowBuilder project menu.
WindowBuilder is visible and activated under the preferences menu, but when I i.e. create a Composite window I get no visual editor - just the plain old java editor?

Sounds like you should open the file with the WindowBuilder Editor. ;-)

Well the problem is that the Editor cannot be opened. When I choose to open the file with the Windows Builder editor I just get a plain java editor. No visual editing

How exactly are you opening the file?

Right click on the file -> 'Open with' -> 'Window Builder Editor'.
I would then expect to be able to edit the file visually.
I'm also able to create a new file using the toolbar icon 'Create new visual classes', but when the file is created it just opens up in a Java Editor although with the WindowBuilder icon with a 'J'.

Did a complete clean install og eclipse with no other modules installed but it didn't help.
Running on Windows 7 and JDK 1.6.0_13

Can you post a screen shot of the editor that you are seeing?

Also attach your complete Eclipse ".log" file (zipped).

Hi,

sorry for all the fuss.
I tested the WindowsBuilder a couple of years ago and as far as I remember thre was an icon in the top toolobar to acitvate the visual editor.
Anyway I found the tabs 'Source', 'Design' at the bottom and it works like a charm.
Sometimes you don't see things which are right before your eyes.
I'll rush on to test it.
