can't install GWT Designer using Update site

Postby felixgao » Tue Nov 04, 2008 10:11 pm

I tried to install it in my eclipse Version: 3.4.0
Build id: I20080617-2000

An error occurred while installing the items
Error saving manipulator.
F:\java\eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator\bundles.info (Access is denied)

I tried the installer, the installer is successful but there is not a design choice under the preference.

I just tried the update site and it worked fine. Did you install all the components from the update site?

An "access denied" error referring to some Eclipse file would seem to indicate some problem with your Eclipse installation (maybe a permission problem).

If you have already attempted installation via the update site, you can't use the installer unless you use a clean Eclipse installation. Eclipse 3.4 does not support installing the same plugin via multiple paths.

Yes I selected every thing during installation.
What is the requirement for installing GWT beside Eclipse and JEE 1.5+

The Eclipse Classic or RCP/Plugin distributions are best (or any Eclipse distro as long as you instll the PDE first).

The earlier "access denied' error you ran into points to some problem with your Eclipse installation, not the update site.

I would try a clean Eclipse install.
