Design Mode Fails On Widget Copy/Paste and Resize

Postby jcmorris-mts » Wed Oct 15, 2008 2:32 pm

Hi Eric,

I have reverted to Eclipse 3.3 and the latest GWT Designer build (200810111047) for that version rather than run Ganymede -- it was too unstable.

Everything seems to work great as long as I pick and place from the widget pallet or write code directly, but once I try to resize any widget or copy and paste widgets from one location to another in design mode, GWT Designer pops a huge error dialog with all the code that it couldn't write to the source file. Here is a link to the .metadata log file entries that correspond to the error(s).

Perhaps Konstantin can spot this as indicative of a certain supporting lib being missing or something, though I think that I have the latest of everything.
Let me know what other info I can supply.

Cheers,
Jason

Turn off diagnostic mode (Designer > General > Enable diagnostic checking pref). You shouldn't turn that on unless we ask you to for some reason.

Enable diagnostic checking

This preference controls whether diagnostic checking is turned on. Diagnostic checking traps certain types of code generation errors. Diagnostic mode is intended to flag differences between the source that exists and the source as recreated by the Eclipse parser. Normally, the two will match exactly, but syntactical differences or problems in the source (even minor ones) will cause a diagnostic failure (this is intentional). In general, you should not turn this option on unless asked to for some reason by Instantiations technical support.
