Hex Color Values of Named Colors in CSS Editor

Postby jcmorris-mts » Sat Sep 27, 2008 10:53 am

Hi Eric,

When using the CSS Editor to select colors, I do not see the option to edit/add named colors using their hexadecimal values instead of the common names.
Sometimes, the colors in the named color pallet are desirable for aesthetic reasons, but I'd still prefer to have the hex value.
Is there a GTW Designer preference for this somewhere?

Cheers,
Jason

You can enter hex values into any Color field in the CSS editor rather than choosing named colors in the color chooser.

UPDATE Re: Hex Color Values of Named Colors in CSS Editor

Hi Eric,

You missed my point :-)
The color pallet formed by the named colors is aesthetically pleasing and thus convenient to use, however the latest version of CSS seems to not validate against most named colors (i.e. CSS 2.1). Rather than remember that "light gray" is #D3D3D3, I'd like to select "light gray" from the pallet but have GWT Designer put #D3D3D3 in the property value. The hex value will always work, whereas the named color string may or may not.

There should be some user option that always inserts colors as hex values regardless of how they are selected from the color pallets so that we don't have to manually look up the hex equivalent of a named color and type it in.

Cheers,
Jason

The latest build now provides this option.

Sorry, but that is a question better directed to Google's GWT forum or some general CSS forum.
