Eclipse 3.4M6 Warning [Fixed in M7]

Postby Eric Clayberg » Tue Apr 01, 2008 11:06 am

The new p2 provisioning system in Eclipse 3.4M6 has a serious bug that will freeze Eclipse on startup and prevent Designer from working.

See Bugzilla Bug 225171. Please avoid 3.4M6 until this is resolved.

How can we uninstall GWT Designer, if it has been installed by error on an Eclipse 3.4M6?

There are several ways:

1) Run the uninstaller

2) Manually delete the installed plugins

3) Remove the .link files from your /links or /dropins directory

Then restart Eclipse with the -clean option.

Methode #1 : Run the uninstaller
I can't used uninstaller of Eclipse because It don't start and I have never found uninstaller in GWT Designer.

Methode #2 : Manually delete the installed plugins
Why not but I haven't the list of installed files.

Methode #3 : Remove the .link files from your /links or /dropins directory
I have deleted these 3 files into the links directory
- com.instantiations.css.link
- com.instantiations.designer.link
- com.instantiations.shared.link
restart with "./eclipse -clean"
and after few minutes my eclipse is repaired.

Thanks a lot.

All of the files are typically installed to the C:/Program Files/Instantiations/ diretory.

You also want to remove the com.swtdesigner.gwt.link file.
