OSX 10.5 Leopard Warning

Postby Eric Clayberg » Sun Oct 28, 2007 5:56 pm

Reports on Google's GWT forum indicate that OSX 10.5 Leopard introduces problems with GWT.

At this point, we don't know if this is caused by a problem in GWT, Java or OSX, but are continuing to research the issue. We will report back here as soon as we have more information.

In the mean time, we strongly recommend that OSX users not upgrade to 10.5 until this issue is resolved as GWT Designer will not work.

Some updated info...

This doesn't look good for Java on 10.5 anytime soon.

Dear Eric,
Google is now publish new version of GWT - version 1.4.61. If I understand right in thread Issue 1792, the latest version now support GWT on Leopard platform. Could you please test GWT Designer version 3.0 on GWT 1.4.61 and publish a statement if now we could new version of OS on our production development machines. Thank you.

Regards,
Matic

I would not recommend switching to OSX 10.5 yet. The new version of GWT works better, but Eclipse itself still has open, active issues with 10.5. We hope those problems are fixed in Eclipse 3.3.2 which is due out sometime soon.

Just a quick update to say that we are seeing success using the latest Eclipse 3.3.2 builds from the Eclipse.org web site along with GWT 1.4.61 and the latest GWT Designer build under OSX 10.5
