Hi, I tried to install gwtdesigner but as soon as I click the icon I get: "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem" ... "the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction."
I'm using winxp.

It sounds like a bad download file. Which file did you download? Please try with a fresh copy.

In addition, from researching the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction error using Google, this may also be caused by one or more corrupted files in your Windows XP installation.
If downloading the file again does not help, this is likely the case.
