New user very confused.

When I read what I'm supposed to be able to accomplish in the promotional literature then look at the available documentation I despair of ever creating anything. Is there something that bridges the gap? Most of the posts on this forum seem to be from others who did bridge the gap, and I'd like to know how to do that.

Previous post edited,as I now have done some real development within Imageviewer, namely added a button and a text box and have them interacting.

But I still am longing for some good tutorial on how to do things.

Specifics

- my Java capabilites are weak. (1) any chance of having a Python (or Jython) version? (2) What's a good reference for Java?

- I'd like an example of database interaction (ODBC? JDBC? or other)

I AM impressed with what little I see so far. I see exciting possiblities.

I'm also getting the picture that some of my questions are directed at GWT rather than GWT Designer. So I'm reviewing the GWT documentation.

That is a good idea.

Effective use of GWT Designer requires knowledge of both GWT and Java.

A really good place to ask general GWT questions is Google's GWT forum.
