I just installed the commercial version of the plugin in to WSAD 5.1 (which has the 2 interim fixes from IBM installed) and any attempt to use SWT designer results in the following information in the workspace .log file:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.core.runtime 2 1 Oct 17, 2003 21:22:38.289
!MESSAGE Problems encountered loading the plug-in registry.
!SUBENTRY 1 org.eclipse.core.runtime 2 1 Oct 17, 2003 21:22:38.289
!MESSAGE Plug-in descriptor "org.eclipse.jdt.core" not found for fragment "com.swtdesigner.fragment.jdt.core". Fragment ignored.
!ENTRY com.swtdesigner 4 4 Oct 17, 2003 21:25:14.544
!MESSAGE Designer internal error: org.eclipse.jdt.core.dom.DesignerAST
!STACK 0
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.eclipse.jdt.core.dom.DesignerAST
.
.

I had previously been using the free version quite happily and convinced my company to purchase it. I used the remove script before installing the new version and now I can't use it at all. Using a new workspace doesn't help. I don't however have the problem with eclipse 3.M4.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

On a separate note, could the installation be packaged as an update site so WSAD can manage the installation through Update Manager?

Thanks,

Tim.

Yes. I believe you have installed the wrong product version in WSAD 5.1. According to our records, your co-worker Patrick only downloaded the Eclipse 3.0 version of the product. That will work just fine in in Eclipse 3.0 M4, but it will not work in WSAD 5.1 which is based on Eclipse 2.1.1. All you need to do is download the Eclipse 2.1 version of SWT Designer Professional, and you should be fine (I just tried it and it worked fine for me using that same configuration).

On a separate note, could the installation be packaged as an update site so WSAD can manage the installation through Update Manager?

We eventually plan to do that.

Thanks Eric for the prompt response!

I didn't realise there were different versions. I'll try again on Monday.
