-SWT & Swing Designer freeze on FedoraCore 5 i386

Postby Jedt3D » Mon Mar 27, 2006 8:05 pm

As the topic. I've install FC5 i386 + Java 1.5.0_06 from sun + eclispe 3.1.2 gtk original package. no additional plugin except CodePro 4.3.1 + WindowBuilder Pro 4.3.1.

- create a Designer project (swing or swt)
- create a class or swt/jface class (
- if you create a class and try to open with Designer | or | after you create a swt/jface class
---> eclipse will be freezed.
- the xterm window show "Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x7357)!" and follow with "Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x7357)!".

then I've to xkill it.

I've tried to follow the simple step in SWTDesigner.pdf step by step. No luck on Linux.
Everything work fine on Win XP.

Please help

We acquired a copy of Fedora Core 5 and installed Eclipse and WindowBuilder 4.3.1. It seemed to work just fine in all of our tests.

Here's a sample screen shot...

Make sure that you configure Eclipse to use the standard Sun JVM and not something like the GNU libgcj 1.4.2 JVM.

Hello, Eric
Wow... surprise... :)
Well, I've use Sun JDK 1.5.0_06 run as root. My graphic driver is "nv" according to the xorg.conf file.
I've seen in the terminal windows behide your eclipse. Did you run it with jdk 1.4.2 from sun?
I'd like to know the rough spec of your computer setting. Can you share the info about Graphic card + driver (standard or recompile), Java version, kernel etc... even the config.ini of eclipse... I've much headache to try eclipse to run on linux properly... (really... i'm very new to program Java + Eclipse on linux.)
Thank you very much for your effort to try it. At least I'll give it a try again.

:D

Hooray!

It's like you told me. It's because of JVM conflict!

After uninstall anything related to GNU JVM and use only Sun's JVM. It' working perfectly!
