Data binding in Eclipse 3.2

Postby tvogel » Sun Jan 08, 2006 4:04 am

I am starting a project in which I need data binding functionality, i.e. bind specific controls to a domain specific model so that changes in one are reflected in the other. Can you tell me the plans for support of the data binding features that are being developed in Eclipse 3.2 within the SWT Designer product?

I realize it is still under development but would like some direction if this is going to be leveraged or if the product will only offer data binding via Java Beans.

Thanks for a great product!

We do plan to support the new Eclipse data binding framework under Eclipse 3.2. We are also investigating whether it will work under Eclipse 3.0 and 3.1 as well.

Since the JFace data binding will not be API in 3.2, see comment 58 on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=104570, will it be supported anyway?

Yes. We plan to support it once they do have a stable API (which should be in the next couple of months).

Where are you with the databinding stuff? It didn't make it into 3.2 - any idea why?

We were hoping to initially target the official API. Given the delay, we are considering supporting the preliminary API.

It wasn't finished.
