I'm surprised nobody asked as yet.

Designer seems to work, but the error message is making me nervous.

Best regards

The latest v4.0.1 build supports RC1.

It does?

Mine says in Preferences/Designer:

SWT Designer PRO
version 4.0.1 compiled on 2005.05.29 for Eclipse 3.1.0 M6/M7
*** This is the incorrect product version for this version of Eclipse ***

My version of Eclipse is I20050527-1300 (which is RC1).

by the way... i would really prefer a version number scheme that is a little more 'mainstream' - like 4.01, 4.02 etc. for new bugfix releases and 4.10, 4.20 etc. for builds with minor new features or so.
at times, it is kinda confusing the way it is right now. a changelog would be nice as well ;-)

Major new releases are numbered #.0.0 or #.#.0 depending on the magnitude of the features. Our development (or beta) streams are numbered #.#.1.

Our most recent GA version is v4.0.0 and our next GA release will likely be v4.1.0. Our current development (or beta) stream is v4.0.1. New builds are identified by build date on the web site.

Our v4.0.1 stream is roughly equivalent to the Eclipse 3.1 development stream. We use the Eclipse convention of keeping he plugin version number the same (and differentiate on build date) to make it easy to update from one development build to the next.

A change list for each release is available in the changes.txt file in the root of the Designer plugin directory. That change list is also on the web site here.

If you want access to the latest features and bug fixes, 4.0.1 is the way to go.

Occassionally, new bugs are introduced into 4.0.1 (and quickly fixed :-)), so you can always drop back to 4.0.0 if you need to.

Any time a bug is reported and then fixed, that fix will be introduced into the next 4.0.1 build.
