Designer & XWT & Databinding

Postby lnite » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:21 am

Hi,

I've downloaded WindowBuilderPro Beta (8.1.0r36) and, while I have no trouble designing composites in XWT, which is great, I am unable to get databinding to work.

I've been trying to apply the instructions for SWT Desginer in databinding example (http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/tools ... ample.html), but it seems that fields being declared in the .java source file never appear in the "Binding" tab of the .xwt file.

I thought v8.1 was supposed to support databinding with XWT to some degree, as seen here: http://download.instantiations.com/D2WB ... index.html

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

The XWT Data Binding support currently in SWT Designer is in a very early state and only supports simple DB examples.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the reply. Are these simple examples you mention available somewhere?

I'm not aware of any.

If you are interested in doing complex SWT/JFace based data binding, I would recommend using the Java interfaces.

can you please elaborate on this statement ?

I would recommend using Java rather than XWT. The docs for the Java SWT/JFace Data Binding support can be found here...
