Designer detects Eclipse version incorrectly?

I am running Eclipse 3.0.0 (final) on windows 2000. When I install SWT Designer Free Edition and start a project, I get the following warning message:

This is the incorrect version of Designer for this version of Eclipse.
This version was compiled for Eclipse 3.0 and is running on Eclipse 3.0 RC1.

Eclipse version reads as:
Version: 3.0.0
Build id: 200405290105

How does Designer detect which Eclipse version is installed?

FYI...The 200405290105 (May 29th) Eclipse build is not the final Eclipse build. The 200405290105 build is Eclipse 3.0 RC1. The final Eclipse 3.0 build is 200406251208 (June 25th). You can see this clearly on the Eclipse download page.

Based on the informnation you provide above, it sounds like Designer is correctly identifying the version and correctly issuing an error message. If you want to use the v2.0.1 version of Designer, you need to be using the Eclipse 3.0 final release, not the RC1 release as you apparently are using.

How does Designer detect which Eclipse version is installed?

It reads it out of the about.mappings file in the org.eclipse.platform plugin. This is the same build ID you wil see in the Eclipse About dialog.
