Cheetah Warning

Cheetah is an early preview of future Eclipse J2SE 1.5 support. It is highly experimental and very preliminary (v0.0.6 to be exact) at this point. From the Cheetah web page...

"These patches are not yet part of any official release or rollup; but provide an early access to the next delivery for quality assessment."

The Cheetah plug-in replaces a couple of core Eclipse plugins with modified versions that remove some Eclipse 3.0 APIs. Those modified plugin versions really represent a future Eclipse beta stream. Unfortunately, some of the changes they made are incompatible with some plugins (like Designer) built for the basic Eclipse 3.0 final release (which expect those particular APIs to exist). Until those changes appear in an official Eclipse release (or stable build), we can't officially support them. If you want to use Designer in a supported environment, you should stick with the (unmodified) Eclipse 3.0 final release.

Dear 1.5 fans,

In order to reduce confusion in users, we are going to remove the Cheetah (1.5 preview) from the official update site, since some users are inadvertantly upgrading to it without realizing it. It will remain hosted on the separate download site (the old Cheetah update site is still available at: http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cg ... pdate-site).
