Is there a way from the Design view to create the list of items (setItems) that are displayed in the List widget?

Is there a way from the Design view to create the list of items (setItems) that are displayed in the List widget?

Yes. Using v1.2.3 of the Designer, you can set the "items" associated with a List widget via the property pane. Click on the "items" attribute to open the Items editor.
