can't see label component in design mode

Postby cbeaucour » Wed Dec 03, 2003 3:41 am

Hi,
Since start of week, I evaluate SWT-Designer (free version) and other UIs in Eclipse Platform.

I encounter a problem with SWTDesigner : in design mode, label components are invisible (I can't see label.text value), but they appear when I run the SWT Application.

Is it normal ?

For info, I use Eclipse 2.1.2 on Windows NT4sp6a

Thanks in advance for your answer

No. What version of Designer are you using? Do any exceptions show up in the Eclipse ".log" file? Are you able to enter text for the labels in the property pane? Do you see text on other widgets (buttons, checkboxes, etc.)? If you don't mind, can you send us a small test class plus a screen shot of what you are seeing to support@swt-designer.com?

I use SWTDesigner 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 (I have installed 1.2.2 this morning to see if the problem occurs again).
In property page, I'm able to modify properties for the label (text, texttooltips, ..), and I can see text on other widgets.
I mail you screen shots (Design and Test mode. Note I set label.background to red color to see where it is), and the source.

I tried your example using SWT Designer 1.2.2 on Windows 2000 & XP and it worked fine on several different machines. I saw white text on a red background in both design and test modes. Does it matter what colors are used? Does black text on a white background work? Does it matter if you change the label text? What happens if you change the font? What happens if you try Eclipse 3.0? Do you have access to Windows 2000 or XP in order to try it there?

Windows NT is not listed as a supported platform for Eclipse 2.1.2 (and is only "lightly" tested by eclipse.org in that environment), so this is likely caused by a problem either in NT itself or in Eclipse's support for NT.

Ok with Windows 2000 and XP Pro. I'm going to migrate from NT to Win2000.

Thanks a lot.
