Unable to create anything

Postby Philip » Wed Nov 19, 2003 1:33 pm

I had the free edition installed and was running fine. So I decided to try out the professional.. however I was running on 3M4 eclipse so being interested in working I have cleanly installed a 2.1.1 eclipse and added the Pro release.

I not have all the options to create the SWT project, when I do the resourceManager has a missing reference to what I assume is the jface.jar. However thats just the begining , if I use a wizard to create any of the SWT file types I get to the end press Finish and the wizard doesn't close it just sits there... any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Which version of Pro did you install? The Eclipse 2.1 version or the Eclipse 3.0 version? The 1.2.1 release or the 1.2.2 beta?

How did you create the project? Using the Eclipse Java Project wizard or the Desoigner SWT Project wizard? The latter will automatically add all of the appropriate imports for you. If you don't use the Designer wizard, then you are responsible for adding the appropriate imports to th eproject as described in the Designer docs.

Any exceptions in the Eclipse .log file? Based on the symptoms, you might have the wrong product version installed.

I installed the 2.1.1 release on one machine, fresh install and then added the 1.2.1 Pro plugin into that environment.

I then created an SWT project, which appeared to be missing the jface.jar since the resource manager complained that

import org.eclipse.jface.resource.ImageDescriptor;

can't be found, so I added this as an external jar then I tried to add an SWTApplication through New -> Other -> SWT -> SWT Application

I filled in the form and went to press Finish, though Finish doesn't do anything?

Checked the .log and nothing there... this is same as what happened on my laptop with Eclipse 3 M4?

Anything I can check?

Cheers

The 1.2.1 plugin for Eclipse 2.1 or 3.0? Specifically, which ZIP file did you download and install?

I guess you can try installing the 1.2.2 beta instead.

So much to learn (as always), I didn't even notice all the versions for download.

It is now working on the 3M4 Eclipse on the laptop... thanks for your patience

Same problem!

Postby josquin941 » Wed Dec 24, 2003 7:51 pm

I'm having the same problem as Philip, but I'm using 1.2.2 (free) with Eclipse 2.1.2.

When I click "Finish", nothing happens. Any thoughts?

Which version of SWT Designer do you have installed? If I had to guess, it sounds like you might have the wrong version of SWT Designer installed (e.g., the Eclipse 2.0 or 3.0 version installed into Eclipse 2.1.2).

I did...

Postby josquin941 » Thu Dec 25, 2003 6:09 pm

You're right... I did have the wrong version.

I found this out by noticing a little note in italics in the Preferences | SWT.

I could swear that I downloaded the right version, as I checked it several times. Very strange case of versionitis, but things seem to be working now.

Thanks!

If the product detects that it is running in the wrong environment, it will place warning on the main preference page as well as in the Designer editor itself. We should probably add that warning to the wizard pages as well.
