Internal Parser Error

Postby Jc » Tue Dec 07, 2004 3:42 am

I've created a new project and then added a Designer Swing Application. When I click on the Design type I get a dialog with this error message:

"Internal Parse Error"

On the top of the design view there is a kind of editing menu with many icons. After I click ok on the error dialog that disapears and gets replaced with:

"Unknown Window Type (Parsing Error)"

I'm trying to evaluate this product but so far I'm not impressed :)

If that happens with a brand new window, the likely cause is an installation problem (wrong version installed) or an Eclipse configuration problem (corrupt or stale plugin cache).

What version of Eclipse are you using?

What version of Swing Dsigner are you using (version number and build date)?

Are you able to create any other types of windows? JFrames? JPanels? JDialogs?

Do any exceptions appear in your Eclipse ".log" file?

Try deleting your Eclipse "configuration" directory and re-starting Eclipse. Also make sure that you have the correct version of Designer installed for the version of Eclipse that you are using.

If none of the above helps, then you should send a test case (of the window that does not parse) to us for analysis.
