Unable to use Design Panel after activation

Postby ondaly » Tue Jul 27, 2004 7:29 am

When I click on the Design Panel, plugin shows me the activation dialog again - although I go through the activation process again, it still does not recoqnize that and does not go into the Design Panel.

Just an FYI, the product is registered and activated as it shows under the Windows Preferences.

What am I doing wrong?

Also when activation, I have tried through the license dialog to activate all three products listed (SWT, Swing, and WindowsBuilder)

Also due to a proxy connection, the registration could not happen through the web, and I had to activate it manually when I received the activation code through your site support.

Are you entering the activation code on the same machine on which you accessed the activation wizard. Activation codes are machine specific and cannot be transfered between machines. What activation code were you given?

Do any exceptions appear in your Eclipse ".log" file? What kind of class are you trying to edit? Was it created by Designer? Can you send us the source?

The activation code is "SwingDesignerPro-BD0ND-QN0AE-C1FTA"

Ok, so I have multiple problems. This is a personal purchase, I have a desktop as well as a laptop that I plan to put this on. Few day's ago, I first installed on my laptop however due to a proxy connection, I had to activate it manually. Yesterday I installed on my desktop which is directly connected to Internet, and I used web activation technique.

The laptop refuses to let me into the designer panel. The desktop simply indicates that activation will expire in 2 days.

I have to say, I am confused on the product classification. Based on the activation sent, it is SwingDesigner. Based on the documentation, I created a SWT/JFace Project. Within this I open an application using File -> OTher -> SWT Application.

At this point with no change to the default code, I try to open the design panel, and it takes me to the registration and activation series of dialog.
And even this does not seem to do anything.

Send me a email-id, and I will send all screen images for the Desktop which I activated yesterday.

I believe that I understand the problem. You have purchased and activated Swing Designer Pro, but you are trying to use SWT Designer (which you have neither purchased or activated in eval mode). The "SWT Application" wizard is part of SWT Designer. If you want to create Swing UIs, you should be using the JFrame or JPanel wizards. If you want to use SWT Designer, then you should activate the SWT Designer eval.

Closed - Thank you

Thank you,

I understand what you are saying. I was looking under the Swing-Designer documentation under creating a new project - which starts of hinting use of SWT Application - without mentioning the restrictions that you indicated.

The tutorial is a generic tutorial covering the entire product. If you want to create a Swing app, just choose a Swing creation wizard rather than the SWT creation wizard. If you want to follow the tutorial very closely, then all you need to do is enable the SWT part of the product.
