Will the 7.5 VM take -srvWorkingDir as quoted long file path

Postby PhotonDemon » Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:19 am

I'm using VAST 5.5.2 and having a problem passing -srvWorkingDir as quoted long file name path for an NT service. I can get it into the NT service definition but the service won't start. If I use a short 8.3 style path, all is fine. I think the problem is with the spaces in the folder names. Quoting the parameter doesn't help, probably because the VM doesn't pay attention to the quotes and just scans upto the first space. Will the 7.5 VM take -srvWorkingDir as quoted long file path?

Hello,

See if putting the folder\filenames in double quotes helps. For example:

"C:\Documents and Settings\taylor\My Documents\Vast 752\image752"

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Using quotes is exactly what I want to do but that doesn't work with my 5.5.2 VM, hence the question about the 7.5 VM. It seems the 5.5.2 VM doesn't take the quoted path as a single parameter. I'm not sure what it does, probably takes upto the first blank and uses that as the path. Then the service hangs "Starting".

Hello,

I have several shortcuts for various images pre-loaded with different apps. I am using ST 7.5.2 and this is the command line for one of my shortcuts:

"C:\Program Files\Instantiations\VA Smalltalk\7.5\bin\abt.exe" "-iC:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Vast\Vast 752\image752\abt.icx" -ini:abt.ini

. . . as you know, the -i switch is used to specify an image location, by surrounding everything in double quotes (including the -i), it is all passed in as one param.
