GWT Designer and GWT-Ext

Postby rcaballeron » Mon Jun 29, 2009 6:52 am

Hi,

I'm using the very last version of GWT Designer and Eclipse 3.5 Galileo. I've configured the project using the option "Google Web Toolkit|Configuring for using GWT-Ext". After that, every time I try to open the "Design" view I have the following error during the "Initializing GWT hosted mode" step (see caputre) The same error happens if a try to run the project.

I've found in this forum a zip file with a prepared gwt-ext project. This project runs ok and I don't receive any error. I wonder if the problem is related with the way the tool configures the project in order to use the gwt extension.

Many thanks,

Roque

I have never seen that before.

If you create a brand new project and configure it for GWT-Ext does the same thing happen?

What version of GWT and Eclipse are you using?

The Configuring for using GWT-Ext command simply implements the configuration steps described on the GWT-Ext web site.

Hi Eric,

I've tried several times to create a new project using the GWT Designer wizard and then I've configured the project for using GWT-Ext. I have always the error. I'm using Eclipse Galileo Java EE IDE for Web Developers - Build id: 20090621-0832 and gwt-windows-1.6.4.

After the unsucessful tries, I decided to configure the proyect by myself. I created the GWT project using de wizard but I added "manually" the required configuration for GWT-Ext. The result was that the project worked perfectly. I took the GWT-Ext configuration files and the jar gwtest.jar file from the GWTExt_test you left on this forum. Then, I've realized that the gwtext.jar file added by the wizard is different from the one present in the test project. As soon as I replaced the former jar file with the latter one, the error disappears. I've tried to resolve which versions have the different jar files, but I couldn't.

So, I hope you can find the problem.

Regards,

Roque

The project from the forum uses an older version of GWT-Ext.

The Configuring for using GWT-Ext command uses the latest version of GWT-Ext. Other than that, there should be no difference.

From your description, it sounds like the latest version of GWT-Ext doesn't run on your machine. Why that would be the case, I have no idea. If you have found a version of that jar that does work for you, I would use that.
