support external app servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss)

GWT Designer allows you to quickly create the modules, composites, panels, remote services and other elements that comprise Google Web Tookit applications.

Is there a plan to support main stream application servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss)? As GWT is gaining the wider acceptence, people will have to develop with their corp standard app servers.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. As far as I know, there is nothing in GWT Designer that would prevent you from using any application server that you want.

There are various plugins for Eclipse (MyEclipse, for example) that support different applicatuion servers. Certainly, the commercial Eclipse offerings from IBM and BEA support their own app servers.

Right new with GWT Designer, if you choose Run -> GWT Application, it starts the hosted mode with the embedded Tomcat. Even if you have the app server plugins, how do you change this behavior?

You have complete control over the GWT launch configuration via the Eclipse launch configuratoin dialog.

GWT has support for using an external server. See...

GWT Designer has support for the -noserver flag in the launch configuration and also allows you to specify the URL.
