Should cells inside the DocPanel be drag-n-droppable?

Postby Will » Sat Apr 28, 2007 5:15 pm

Hi,

I have:
- GWT Designer 1.6.1 [20070427152221]
- Eclipse 3.2.2
- MS Windows XP Pro w/ sp2

In the Design View, I create a DocPanel. I then add 2 buttons:
1) Button1 (text="one") is added to West end
2) Button2 (text="two") is added to East end

I would like to be able to drag Button1 to the right of Button2 so that their new positions in the DocPanel are:
1) Button1 on East end
2) Button2 on West end

... just switching their visual order.

When attempting to drag-n-drop a cell to the desired positions, it seems as if I should be able to do this (the GWT Designer highlights an appropriate section in yellow, and the tooltip at the top does not say "<wrong position>".. but when I do this, no change occurs. I also see no exception thrown in the console console window.

The only way I've found that I'm able to change the order is to modify a cell's (button's) invividual "direction" attribute.

Shouldn't I be able to accomplish this using drag-n-drop instead?

Granted, this is a simple example. But there are more complex situations and in order to be agile, it would be best (at least for me) to be able to change the order of cell components graphically.

Thank you for your help,

Moving widgets around within a DockPanel is now supported in the latest GWT Designer build.
