Postby mortein79 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 12:42 pm

Hi all, I have a big problem. I install Eclipse Helios, install WB Pro from update site, start a new SWT project, and it's not working. Ok, reboot, starting Windows 7 , download Eclipse, install WB Pro from update site, start a new project, and everything is ok. I probe in GTK (Ubuntu), in Virtual machine, and its perfect, so. :x The Kubuntu is fresh install.

So, what can i do? Attach two screenshot.

Sorry my scary english..and thanks

A NoClassDefFound error usually implies an installation problem.

I would suggest doing a full re-install of WindowBuilder into a new, clean Eclipse environment. I would also run Eclipse using the standard Sun/Oracle JVM.

Thank you for your reply, but I did exactly that. :( Download the tarball, extract an empty dir, starting, Install new software, etc., .... Therefore, i wrote here, ran out of ideas. Work under Win7, GTK (Mint and standard Ubuntu), but does not like Kubuntu, it seems.

I have no idea, but the lack of compatibility between Linux distros is always a challenge.

It would be good to see your full Eclipse .metadata ".log" file and Eclipse "Help > About > Installation Details > Configuration".

Hmmm... try to (re)install 'gconf' and/or 'gconf-dev' package.

YEAH, it works! Thank you, and thnx Eric too. What a great support...

One thing: the 'gconf' is not a valid package in the Kubuntu 10.10. . But exists 'gconf2', I install it, and WB works great.

So, the solution every Kubuntu (i suppose, every KDE) user:

Code: Select all
apt-get install gconf2

Glad that worked. As I mentioned earlier, the lack of compatibility between Linux distros (and window managers for that mater) is always a challenge.

You can test on 2-3-4 major Linux distros, but that won't guarantee that it will work on any others or even on future versions of the same distros you tested on. Of all the OS's we need to support, Linux is by far and away the most painful (and consumes 5X the support of all the rest combined).
